Dr. Paul McClellan
Owner of San Dieguito Equine Group, Inc for 20 plus years Dr. Paul McClellan is a graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. Since 1982, he has practiced in Northern San Diego County, devoting his efforts exclusively to performance horses. He has worked with horses competing at the highest levels in dressage, eventing, racing and jumping.
Dr. McClellan was an early advocate of the use of diagnostic ultrasound imaging to evaluate soft tissue injuries in performance horses and had published several papers on this subject. Dr. McClellan now gives lectures on the advantages of MRI for the purpose of equine diagnostics. He serves as a member of the Drugs and Medications Committee of the USA Equestrian and is a Federation Equestre Internationale veterinary delegate for the United States.

Dr. Betsy Charles
Clinic Director, Externship Coordinator Dr. Betsy Charles is a 2003 graduate of Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She developed an interest in lameness and equine imaging while working closely with Dr. Bob Schneider, who is a pioneer in equine MRI. Her senior thesis summarized an AQHA project investigation the use of MRI in furthering our understanding of navicular disease.
After her intership, she spent a year in ambulatory practice before coming on staff with San Dieguito Equine Group in order to pursue her passion, equine lameness and diagnostic imaging. She oversees diagnostic imaging at the clinic and serves as a liason between referring veterinarians and SDEG's consulting radiologists.
In addition to her role as Clinic Director, Dr. Charles has developed SDEG's externship program and works as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Washington State University. She will also supervise 3rd year veterinary student from Western University as they rotate through San Dieguito Equine Group beginning in the fall of 2008.

Michica Dickerson
Practice Manager of San Dieguito Equine Group, Inc for 15+ years Years with the company: 14
Duties: Assistant to the doctors, overseeing of employees and office functions, client relations, accounts receivable, accounts payable and company financials.
Background: BS in Business Information Systems, Masters in Global Business Management, 20 years of office managerial experience. Michica has a background with horses in Western Pleasure/Trail showing.
Personal interests: Michica spends her free time with her two great sons and husband. She stays busy with their soccer/softball schedules. Michica enjoys wake-boarding, snow skiing, reading and spending time with all her animals, an adorable chocolate lab, two cats, four turtles, a pocket parrot, and a corn snake.

Jennifer McKinney
Registered Veterinary Technician for San Dieguito Equine Group, Inc. Years with the company : 4
Duties: Assist doctor with lameness, pre-purchase and clinical examinations including imaging procedures in both the field and the Clinic. Responsible for administering vaccinations, transportation of paperwork and client relations.
Background: 14 years experience as a manager and head technician at an Equine Veterinary Hospital. BS in Agricultural Science and Management, emphasis in Animal Science at UC Davis.
Personal interests:Jennifer enjoys long distance running and gardening.

Deanna Biondo
Imaging Technician Years with the company: 1 1/2
Duties: Performs MRI’s, Nuclear Scintigraphy, Digital Radiography, monitors patients, admits and discharges patients, and compiles study data.
Background: Deanna has a BS in equestrian science from Stephens College in Colombia, Missouri, and an AAS in animal technology from Bel-Rea Institute in Aurora, Colorado.
She has worked in the equine industry for ten years. Deanna began as a riding instructor and is now a veterinary technician with two years experience as an equine surgical technician.
Personal interests: Deanna recently purchased a condominium. She spends her free time remodeling her new home and enjoying the beautiful beaches of San Diego. She is an accomplished hunter/jumper rider and enjoys spending time with Oliver, her 10 year old WB gelding.

Lupe Barraso
Head Groom Years with the company: 1 Year
Duties: Lupe is in charge of grooming and care of all inpatient horses. He also assists the doctors and technicians in handling horses during orthopedic evaluations and imaging procedures. Lupe's experience is a great asset when a nervous horse needs to be settled by a confident and careful handler.
Background: 25 years of experience working with performance horses.
Personal interest: Lupe spends his free time with his wife and three kids. He enjoys playing basketball and swimming.
